Wi|dz:Verse Line is for readers who want a clear poem score before performing: keep the author’s line breaks, mark phrases and pauses, record a reading on your iPhone, and review locally measured voice and silence intervals next to your marks. You can save phrasing versions, compare their timing, pick one, and record again from the same score.

Getting started
- Open the library and tap Create score.
- Enter a title and paste or type your poem. Line breaks you enter are preserved on the score canvas.
- Add phrase boundaries, pauses (with durations), and emphasis where you want them.
- Tap the recording control and read aloud. Microphone access is requested only when you start recording.
- Review the timing lane: voiced spans and silent intervals are measured on your device and shown in approximate alignment with your marks.
- Adjust a boundary or pause and watch the displayed phrase timing update. Save a version when you want to keep an alternative.
- With two versions, use comparison to see pause and phrase timing differences, choose one, then record another attempt from the selected score.
Settings
- Default pause duration — sets the starting length for newly added pause markers; you can still edit individual pauses on the score.
- Delete saved score — removes that poem’s scores, saved phrasing versions, and associated recordings from your device after confirmation.
Recording and microphone
If recording is unavailable, the app shows a message near the record control while keeping your score visible. You can tap Try recording again. If you previously denied access, open iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone and allow Wi|dz:Verse Line, then return to the app.
Empty or very quiet recordings may not produce useful measured segments. The app explains this on screen rather than pretending a full alignment exists.
What timing shows (and what it does not)
Alignment is built from local audio level and silence detection mapped to your ordered lines and marks. It helps you compare breath intervals and phrase spans across attempts—it is not word-by-word sync, speech-to-text, or a grade on your performance.
Data stays on your device
Poems, marks, versions, and recordings are stored locally. The app does not require an account. To remove content, delete individual scores in the app or uninstall the app from your device. See the Privacy Policy for details.
